The Snakehead Waters are Warming Up!

Out last week, 4/21/2015 and the water was warm on Potomac Creek.  After the wind calmed down by 7 pm the water was smooth and the fish were jumping!  Caught one nice 8 lb snakehead about 28 inches and one nice largmouth 4 lbs. in the same set of pads.

Sorry left the camera in the car that day but will have pictures next trip.

Let me know how you are doing and where you are fishing.

  1. Hi,

i’m trying to figure out where are some good snakehead hunting area for bow fishing. I know there are a lot of creek attributaries around Northern VA, but I have no clue on where to launch your boat and troll around. Do you have any boat dock and general path to the water lilies etc.

The only time I hunt snakehead is in the spring along chain bridge shores where we walk along the banks and spear them.
Only that time of the year do they litterally swim up to the banks. Night time is usually a good time where we walk with flashlight and spears. Somewhat primative but definately fun.

I’m going to get a small jon boat or ultraskiff360 and venture more into open waters.

    Thanks,
